What To Do:
- Take extensive pictures then write down who, what, when, and where. Don’t wait until memories are faded to recall the evidence. If you are severely injured and unable to write, have someone write down or record the information as you recall it.
- Beware of quick settlements and take-it-now-or-never offers. Don’t accept a quick settlement for the sake of convenience. Don’t be fooled by adjusters who say they will pay less if you have an attorney, or that an attorney will take half of your settlement. You have a right to consult an attorney, and plenty of time to consider any offer.
- Talk to an attorney. We hope you will call Hensley and allow us to serve you. Regardless, it is important to talk to a trusted attorney if you have been involved in a serious accident of any kind and sustained injuries.
- Save Your Rights: Don’t be bullied or harassed into making recorded statements. Often, parties to an accident or insurance claims adjusters (whom you may have never met!) will tell you that you’re not hurt or try to trap you with confusing questions. Be smart, and DON’T SAY ANYTHING IN RESPONSE. Your words can be used as evidence against you. The truth will come out when the evidence is revealed, so save your rights for the legal system.
